Jenny Lake Lodge

Jenny Lake Lodge in the Grand Tetons is ready for Christmas. We had lunch here seated bu a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary.  We discovered they live about ten miles away from us at home and are family of some of my tennis buddies.

We seem to gravitate toward marina life.

The sun setting behind the Tetons was too beautiful not to stop.

Bison or Buffalo ?

No matter what you call it --its huge. Saw  this creature walking beside the road. Traffic was at a standstill.

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone

It was a tough hike but worth it for the view.

Yellowstone

Old Faithful was on the schedule to perform at 12:04. We made it to the show.

Wyoming!

After picking up Caroline in Salt Lake City we took off for Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The four hour ride took us through Iowa.  We arrived around 8 ready to eat at Snake River Brewery.  The snake river winds around just like a snake but much more friendly!

Lunch at Pappadeax

Pizza night

Yummy--Pizza Night with Friends
Too Many choices
Salad Bar
Chicago Style Deep Dish

The mouth watering pictures  of pizza cooked by someone else make me wonder why I every buy frozen pizza.    Dinner at the Martins with the Moreman's included multiple choices of pizza's, even a Gluten free pizza by Robin.  So much fun to be the Guinea Pigs who try out new pizza recipes.  My favorite--The deep dish!  Thanks Glenn & Nancy for hosting!

Two way fish camp

A dinghy ride up the Frederica River all the way to Two Fish Camp was our most recent adventure in St. Simons.   We had an 8 mile ride to Two Way.  The Fish camp is a full service marina with an onsite restaurant named Mudcat Charlie's.  Located on the South Altamah River just south of Darien, this is the place to go to try any food that you would like fried.

We had not been on the water long enough after out lunch, so we decided to head up the Hampton River to Hampton Point Marina.  While fueling the dinghy, we were shown the way to Little St. Simons.  The resort at Little St. Simons is reached by ferry leaving from the Hampton River Marina.

The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island offers all-inclusive accommodations including boat transfers to and from the island.  The Lodge which strives to be a sustainable operation offers a seed to table program in which meals are prepared from vegetables grown in an onsite organic garden and of course the abundance of seafood surrounding the island is served.  In 2007 & in 2013 received readers choice awards from Conde Nast.  In 2011, Outside Magazine featured it as part of its Best Adventures Lodges category

Military Ceremony at Fort Frederica

On Saturday morning, the winds were cool making it a perfect day to take a walk at Fort Frederica.  Bob, Eve & Jake who were visiting, had never seen Fort Frederica so it was a perfect treat for them.  There is currently no fee for this National Park which made it even more appealing.  A docent was dressed in period attire--we had not seen this on any of our previous trips.  He told us that there was to be a memorial service for a veteran and he was dressing the part in respect for the deceased who had loved this particular National Park.

It was a treat to be able to witness the service.

Fishing Tournament at Morningstar

Morningstar Marina Golden Isles had a very busy weekend on August 8 & 9.  The Golden Isles King Mac Attack took place and the marina was swarming with people and boats.  We had the best seats of the house to watch all the boats come in every afternoon.  We were most proud of these two  boys who won their age division and just missed winning the whole tournament by a couple of pounds!

The Wakeboard King

As usual--Steve was the Wakeboard King over the Fourth of July weekend.  We have the pics to prove it.

The bottom of the wakeboard is just barely visible after the crash

July the Fourth Fun

Independence day in Blairsville.  Sweet, lovable, goofy Hobie wondering where everyone went.  He is on the lookout for Katy--can't let her out of his sight.

When the rain cleared on July 4th, everyone was ready to wakeboard.

Steve loves teaching newbies how to wakeboard.  Today's student--Mary Tyler.  Caroline is in the water with he to help her get situated before the boat takes off
Mary Tyler made it!

Steve was the last one to wakeboard.  As usual--he was a top performer.  His pics tomorrow!

Kitchen & Den Finished!

When the painting was finished, Katy got busy with the decorating.  I think it looks great!

New shutters and a brightly painted front door give this 1955 ranch an update.  Two more projects on the horizon--bedroom painting and then on to building window boxes and boxing in the columns.
