Got your Christmas Sweater Yet?

Don't you just love your iPhone or android phone with the built in camera?  I confess I do.  Having the ability to send a picture of what I need from the grocery store, or something I want for the house, or something I must remember is terrific.  Having the camera on  my phone has really cut down on Christmas returns too.  I can send a quick pic to the girls who will quickly give me a thumbs up or down for Christmas gift ideas.

I saw these shirts the other day I thought might be great for a Christmas family picture.

Caroline wants the Rudolph with glasses.  But I think it might be better suited for me as the pic below shows.   Katy & Lainey didn't respond--I guess they were busy.

Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta

Katy asked Steve and I to go with her to the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta after a family birthday dinner in Atlanta.  Thinking these shoppes were in Atlanta, we agreed to go.  We headed North and just before we got to Tennessee (just kidding) we arrived at the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta in Woodstock.

Steve was grumbling the whole time (hard to imagine that I know--he loves to shop at West Marine--what's the difference?) when I told him it would be nice to spend some time with Katy even if it was shopping.  He made the best of it by finding the Columbia store and the Bose store.  Janey was with us too and seemed to enjoy he shopping trip.  She enjoyed spending time with Katy, too.

Sorry I don't have pics of the family get together.  We were at Scott & Megan's new home and got to meet their sweet baby girl Molly Caroline.  Four birthdays celebrated in October--Martha, Eddie, Megan, & Matt.  Great food & Fun Times.

I do have a picture of Katy and Matt.  It looks like they are synchronizing their phones. Notice how she can handle a phone, a purse and a shopping bag with the greatest of ease.  I raised her right.

When Pigs Fly...

When Pigs Fly....I mean when Pigs show up at the tennis court, who knows what might happen.
A few weeks ago, I was playing tennis in Snellville.  After my match,  there was a distraction at one of the courts.  They heard pigs and complained about his loud oinking.

We discovered this guy

Pioneer Park Farmers Market

On Saturday before we left Caroline, we visited the Pioneer Park Farmers Market.  The market is open from June to October.  Created in 1992 by the Downtown Alliance to begin positive activities into the area at one time known for criminal activity.  The plan has flourished and includes sellers from 16 counties in Utah.  Along with farm goods, there  are steal handmade, locally produced food, beverages and crafts.  The motto of the market is  "Make it, bake it, grow it".

Our visit with Caroline has come to an end.   She helped to create a fabulous trip for us to Utah.  Missing her already.

Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolates

Marie Cavanaugh began making her aunt's recipe for pecan rolls in South Dakota for her friends and neighbors.  Encouraged by these friends, Marie, began her candy business that grew such that her husband and children began working with her to help meet demand for the candy treat.  The family left the ranch in South Dakota in 1972 for Utah.  Today, Mrs. Cavanaugh's Candies are known throughout the country.

Caroline encouraged us to take the tour of Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolate Factory.  It was only about $2 each and why not--chocolate samples included!

Hill Air Force Base Museum

Hill Aerospace Museum on a 30 acre  corner of Hill Air Force Base in Utah is a few miles south of Ogden.  The museum is a part of the USAF Heritage Flight Foundation Program.  The mission of this program is to provide flight performances which  include modern fighter & attack aircraft flying alongside WWII, Korean and Vietnam era aircraft to display the air power history of the US.

There are more than 90 military aircraft on the grounds and inside the Steward Fighter Gallery.  Munitions, ordnance, assorted ground equipment, uniforms and other historical artifacts are included in the collection.  All of these items illustrate the role that Hill Air Force Base and the state of Utah have had in the history of the USAF.

The first area upon entering the museum focuses on the early years  of flight from 1903-1940 including a replica of the 1903 Wright Flyer.  Also included is the first airplane licensed for production the United States-the Burgess Wright Model built for the Wright Brothers by Starling Burgess.

The remaining  sections feature WWII (1941-1945), the Dawn of the Jet Age (1946-1953), The Cold War Era(195401989) and a section called Keeping the Peace covering 1990 until today.  The Utah Aviation Hall of Fame and the Women AIrforce Service Pilots sections are also very interesting.

Caputo's Gourmet Food Market & Deli

Father and son, Tony & Matt Caputo, owners of the Market and Deli in Salt Lake City are known locally for their authentic food products from Italy, Spain, Greece and France.  Caputo's offers over 200 types of cheeses from their Cheese Cave.  The Deli  is a neighborhood favorite spot for lunch with its vast selection of sandwiches, salads and pasta.  It would be wise to order a salami sandwich made by the in house Salame Maker, Cristiana Creminelli whose family has been making salami for over 400 years.  Cristiana came to Utah to make salami from all natural Utah pork.  The process of making salami can be observed through glass doors in the market.   The Caprese Salad looks great as do the sandwiches and pasta, but selection of chocolates outshines everything to a chocolate lover.   Samples are available upon request from the 300+ chocolate bars.

Tracy Aviary

The Tracy Aviary is located in Liberty Park an urban park in Salt Lake City.  This park has 80 acres making it the city's second largest public park just behind Sugarhouse Park at 100 acres.  The park has playgrounds, a jogging path, bocce ball courts, tennis courts, swimming pool and a natural water park area.

We visited the park early in the day and arrived in time to see the High Fliers Bird Show.
