Fort Myers to Venice

The wind was blowing crazily on our trip from Fort Myers to Venice.  Docking early in the afternoon was our worst experience in quite some time.  Not only did we have strong winds to contend with, but the miscommunication of the dock hands who  were trying to put us into a slip that was too narrow and another that was too short.  After some serious screaming of  directions, we got secured enough to back up and safely tie up to the T-head instead of a slip.  A helper came over with his dog who immediately fell in and added to the tension--I feared the dog would get caught in the propeller.  Apologies and a cut rate were offered for the trouble and danger they inflicted as we paid the bill.

On the way to Venice we saw Cabbage Key and Useppa Island which are listed as quaint places to visit.  With so much wind, we decided to keep going. The dolphins were out in full force this day and kept me busy going out to see their show.
