Night Lights in Fort Myers

Walking back to the boat from the Mexican restaurant we noticed two large bronze cylinders creating a light show of thousands of letters.  These cylinders sit in from of the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center. The letters illuminated on the sidewalk are the botanical names of plants used in Thomas Edison's experiments and Native American Maskoki migration story.  This dual point light sculpture is called Caloosahatchee Manuscripts and was a gift from Florida Power & Light in 2001 to the City of Fort Myers.  Jim Sanborn is the artist who created these beautiful luminaries out of bronze.
