Friday at Great Harbour Cay Marina

April 5

Great Harbour Cay Marina

Steve worked on the rope lighting on the interior today so that we could have night lights that don't use too much energy.  He did a great job!

After lunch we walked the mile or mile and a half to the beach.  I let Steve decide the path and took a detour he chose--I knew better than to let him navigate, we ended up off trail on a deserted garbage trail into a best forgotten area.  We found our way back to the main road and headed toward the beach near the airport.  There were a few homes along the way that looked new , but there were many in disrepair.  The golf course appears to be maintained, but the clubhouse is falling in on itself.

The beach is beautiful with very few people.  After leaving the beach, we walked up to the airport--it is tiny but there were taxi's waiting to whisk away arriving visitors.  We hustled back to join Karen and Dwight on Popeye for some before dinner socializing.  They are from Canada and had been aboard since November.  They are heading back to the states soon then on to Canada.

Some of the local citizens were cooking BBQ at the marina, so we headed over there for a plate.  We had a choice of chicken, steak, pork, or ribs with corn and mac&cheese.  The four of us  took  our plates back to Meandering Joy to dine on the fly bridge.  Dwight and Karen shared their boating knowledge with us as we enjoyed our hot & spicy meal.  Steve and I had to back away from the jalapeno laden mac and cheese.  It was too much for us.
