Decorating TIme!

Fun! Fun! Fun!  Dale brought over several fabrics to pick over for the boat yesterday.  She suggested I start looking for pillows and accessories while out shopping--thanks Dale, I can do this.  I ran up to T.J. Maxx and found some great buys in pillows.  They looked very good with the fabrics she selected.  Now just have to get Steve on board with the colors.

God is our refuge and our Strength...

December 28, 2012

God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble, therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:1-3

I find this verse appropriate with all the fear and anxiety demonstrated on the news programs about going over the fiscal cliff which seems to be looming ahead of our country.  I find the behavior of our elected officials to be juvenile.   The reporters whom I believe are supposed to report the facts, not insert personal opinion are also behaving childishly.   During this heated time of reporting and politics, I am reminded of the times when the weather reporters declare a terrible snow storm here in the south.  Everyone rushes to the grocery store to buy up milk and bread and then guess what?  No Storm--they never admit they were wrong, it's just the storm took a turn or a warm front upstaged the snow.

That is enough of politics for now. So, I am back to our Meandering Joy project.  Dale Strickland is coming over today to help with fabric choices for the upholstery work we plan to start once we move the boat to Jacksonville.

Visiting the Moreman's

Caroline, Lainey and I spent some time this afternoon with Robin, Amber and Baby Charles Moreman.  We saw Big Charles, but just briefly.  He probably wanted to avoid all the girl talk.  We had a lot of catching up to do .  Robin's mother Linda is going through intense chemotherapy at Emory University.  Amber has been recovering from surgery. It was great to catch up with them and to see their newest family member, Baby Charles, who is Robert's son.

We will be keeping the Moreman's in our prayers as Linda goes through her therapy.  She is going to be staying with Robin while she is undergoing this treatment.

After our visit, I did some work on my knot trivets.  I saw these in some of the nautical shops we visited in New Bern NC.  I am too cheap to buy one for myself, and as usual I told my self "'I can make that."  My girls hate it when I say that because they say I don't ever make it and we end up wishing we had bought whatever it is that I thought I could make.  This is my opportunity to prove them wrong.

I found a tutorial at Design Sponge for knot trivets.   Steve and I found some colorful line and bought it at Lowe's.  I tried to make the trivet while aboard the boat but ended up making a mess and getting frustrated.  I worked on the trivets when I got home.  I finished one, but ripped it apart about 3 times before I was satisfied.  I have complete four now. Pictures coming soon...

Happy Birthday Caroline!

December 26, 2012

Today is Caroline's 21st birthday.  We are taking her shopping to the outlet mall in Commerce.  She needs some new clothes for her job as president of  her sorority.   It is always fun to shop with my girls when we don’t have an agenda.  We took her to eat at La Hacienda for lunch and then some shopping.  She found a couple of cute dresses and some tank tops.  Lainey also found some sparkly  tank tops.  That girl loves glittery tops.  Katy bought some work clothes at the scrubs outlet.

Dinner was at George's Lowcountry Table in Athens.  She ordered the gumbo and fried green tomatoes  two of her favorite foods.  The food was good but spicy--very spicy.  Steve gave this place high praise by saying he would come back to this restaurant again.

The devotion from Jesus Calling reminds me that God's unconditional love for us is such an extreme concept that it is difficult for man to comprehend.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was spent at Suzy's house this year. We loaded up the bus and took the girls to Atlanta.  Our first stop was to Whole Foods.  Odd place to go, but we started the tradition many years ago and it stuck.   We took pictures, then headed over the Suzy's for lunch.

Christmas with Granny and Grandaddy!

December 21, 2012

Christmas with Granny and Grandaddy!  We enjoyed a simple meal of both venison chili and chicken chili before opening presents with the grandparents.
