Carolina Beach to Murrell's Inlet

We are still on our mission to get Lainey from the Souther family.  She is already at Murrell's Inlet, SC.  We passed through Southport and decided we need to stop in this quaint town on our trip back up north.  We made great time traveling in the Cape Fear River.  We passed by Oak Island, Holden Beach, and Ocean Isle Beach.  Just after mile 340 we crossed into SC.  We had to lower our antenna at mile 353.3 to go under the Barefoot Landing Bridge.  Traveling down the Waccamaw River was an interesting mix of developed and undeveloped areas.  At mile 383.4 we arrived at the Wacca Wache Marina in Murells Inlet.  It was raining while I readied the lines.  We were met at the docks by Greg, Patti, and Katie Souther and of course our dear girl Lainey.

We rushed to get dried off and into different clothes so that we could go to Brookgreen Gardens Nights of a Thousand Candles.  This is a display of lights and candles throughout the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens in Myrtle Beach.  We started at the food tent which was catered by Drunken Jack's, a local restaurant.  Then we were led through the gardens by  Mike and Deborah (Greg's sister and her boyfriend) who have attended this event for several years.

We wandered around for a few hours, took some pictures, enjoyed the holiday music, and even visited the gift shop.  We returned to our boat thoroughly exhausted but full of the Christmas spirit.

This casino boat almost ran over us...
